IN THE COMMUNITY

Acupuncture Day October 24, 2020
Acupuncturists around Maine joined others around the country observing Acupuncture Day by inviting the public into their practices, giving talks and holding clinics in their communities.

Milestone Acupuncture Project 2018

From January to December in 2018, an ear acupuncture treatment, known as the NADA-protocol, which consists of five thin, sterile needles inserted in each ear, was administered by a team of 8 volunteer licensed acupuncturists at Milestone Recovery in Portland, ME.  Research was conducted, demonstrating the effectiveness of the NADA-protocol to help those in all stages of recovery, and published  in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine/JACM (see 47-00). Read the research paper here. View the short film here .

Knox County Health Clinic
The Knox County Health Clinic has been offering free or by donation NADA treatments for a number of years. Currently this is available the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Wednesday of the month by local volunteers from 4:15 pm - 5:30 pm. Patients are requested to arrive before 5 pm. For updates, see them on Facebook or call 921-6996.

Hall of Flags at the State House in Augusta
Each year in the springtime, the MAS holds a Hall of Flags event, also know 'Legislative Day,' in Augusta where we showcase our profession to our state's lawmakers. This is an excellent opportunity to educate our elected officials and their staff about what we do, offering them an opportunity to experience acupuncture first hand, and how we can help people in Maine with our cost effective medicine.

Acupuncture Featured on Maine Calling
Licensed acupuncturists Chris Haskell and Tobey Williamson were guests on Maine Public's call-in radio show, 12/10/2019.  Listen here.
